INLAND PORT ANNOUNCED BY GOVERNOR DEAL

104 ACRE FACILITY LOCATED JUST SOUTH OF LULA WILL HAVE CAPACITY OF 150,000 CONTAINERS PER YEAR

The announcement on December 3, 2018 created quite a stir in the nearby communities. The $15 million project is expected to create 40 jobs within the Inland Port itself but will have the potential of attracting hundreds if not thousands of jobs in new manufacturing and warehouse facilities that will want to be located near this shipping hub. The Inland Port is located just 2.1 miles south of Lula northwest of Georgia Hwy 365 adjacent to the existing Norfolk Southern Railway main line. It is expected to reduce the time and cost of shipping goods from this area to the Port of Savannah and will save local businesses time and money bringing in raw material and shipping out finished goods.

The timetable calls for construction to begin in late 2019 with completion in 2021. Since the announcement, several industries and distribution facilities have announced plans to build in the immediate area near Lula. The new employees at these facilities will increase the demand for housing in the Lula area as well.

Jaemor Farms is North Georgia’s most recognized Agribusiness Success!

The Echols family at Jaemor Farms has been harvesting crops from this land for 107 years. Mr. Jimmy Echols has grown peaches his entire life and is thankful for the farming tradition that was started by his grandfather in 1912. The original peach shed still sits outside his house on Old Cornelia Highway. He purchased the farm from his parents in the early 1960s. Today you can enjoy quality vegetables, strawberries and, of course, peaches as well as some “fun on the farm”.

Lula citizens enjoy convenient access to Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River for swimming, fishing and boating.

The Don Carter State Park provides quiet beauty and relaxing scenes to get away from stress.

Lula’s Veterans Park and Fountains provide a gathering place for community events and celebrations.

Or just stop and enjoy the sights and sounds of small town living.
